What to Expect

  • Start by reaching out! Contact me to set up a free 20 minute consultation call. If we decide we’re a good match to work together, we will book a session. We will then have a chance to discuss in much more detail what brings you to therapy, your goals, and the context of your life. If you are feeling good about working together, we’ll start your therapy.

  • When friends and family ask how to figure out whether a therapist is right for them, I tell them to contact several and trust their gut about whether they feel a connection. Our consult call will be an opportunity for you and me to learn a little more about each other, of course. But more than that, I’m hoping you’ll come away with the feeling that I can help you and that you can trust me. If we’re a good fit, we can schedule a session!

  • We will work collaboratively, setting treatment goals that are important to you. I will draw from evidence-based treatments, with a culturally responsive and feminist lens, to help you make the changes you want. I like each session to end with some takeaway to practice during the week, because change is hard and doing new things is important to meeting your goals. Sessions last 50 minutes, once weekly. I find that we can get the most momentum and change if we meet regularly! If you want to know more about treatment approaches I use in our work, check out my About page.

  • There is no one size fits all answer to this question. Generally, if you are on the fence but feel a connection with me, it’s helpful to give treatment at least three sessions to figure out whether you want to continue. Depending on what you want to work on, we may do short-term therapy (up to 20 sessions), or we may continue long-term (more than 20 sessions).

I commit to developing treatment goals together, so we can both tell whether we are moving in the right direction and when it is time to end treatment. In the course of treatment, other needs may come up that extend our time together, but if we have met your goals and you don’t have any more it is time to wind down. These choices will always be made collaboratively. I want you to get what you need to live your life without therapy!

  • I charge $250 per 50 minute session for individual therapy. I accept payment via debit, credit, FSA & HSA cards.

I do not accept insurance at this time. If you receive Out of Network benefits from your insurance provider, I can give you a receipt with all the relevant information to submit for reimbursement.

  • You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.
